Comments 1/10/05...Natalie and I received this old beauty as a gift from Brandon Martz, a former student of mine. It had 1974 plates on it so it had been sitting for a while. It was on a cold day in January, 2005, when I got the engine pulled. There were two frozen pistons and one frozen valve. The oil pump was shot and I broke a head bolt when pulling the head. The rockers are pretty shot and so are the floor panels. I pulled the seats and it looks as though the car was used to hide things, because behind the back seat there was a makeshift shelf and storage bin that could not be accessed unless the seat was taken out.

11/18/09...It has been a while, But this past weekend, I finally got the motor to run! New pistons, rings, plugs, bearings, oil pump, all gaskets, battery, distributor, oil filter, paint, oil pressure relief valve, had to loosen up the heat riser in manifold, cleaned carburator. Radiator, distributor, headbolts all from a 39 motor. Fired right up and ran for about a half hour! Radiator has a small leak as does the fuel pump. I need to rebuild or get a new fuel pump.

11/16/09...Got new fuel pump and ran it for 45 min tonight. Little chattery..but ran like a champ! Anti-freeze was not circulating. I wonder if that is a cause for concern.

1/4/10...I know I am doing things a little backwards...but, got the dash all cleaned up. All dash chrome polished. Some is pitted but still looks good. Got the new key and key lock installed. All dash lights work well! Car starts easily by key. Water circulates well and all guages work too! Just need to get floor pans and rockers and then piece it all together. Also need to do the brake work. It is all starting to come together.

1/26/10....Rebuilt Master Cylider..no leaks....need to get all new wheel cylider kits.

2/6/10....got all the pistons and expanders out of the front wheel cylinders. Took a lot of penetrating oil and patience. Now all I have to do is rebuild them and I should be in business!

2/12/10.....Brakes are all done! I might actually give the car a test drive today.

2/13/10.....Drove her around the block 2 times today! All gears worked and so did the brakes..but I had to pump them. So either air still on the lines...or leaking somewhere. Had her going 15-20 MPH. 6 years of tinkering with it is starting to pay off!

2/17/10....Adjusted the brakes last night....great pressure! I no longer have to pump them. Appears to be no leaks either.

3/4/10......Just got the inner and 1 outer rocker pannels, the access panel, and both front floor pans. Ordered from Classic 2 current. All look good! The drivers side outer rocker was out of stock.

4/6/10....Gas tank is now reconditioned. I used Kreem. Was easy enough to do. Got the tank back on the car and hooked up. Holds gas and no leaks. Cleaned and painted the outside. Looks good. No more red gas can strapped to the side!

4/10/10...Drove car around the block today. Put about 2 miles on it. All gears worked well. All guages worked as they should except the fuel guage. Brakes worked well. Had it up to 30 mph. Natalie drove it as well...she ground the gears once but still did a nice job. Look out highway, here we come!

4/12/10....Got the access panel bolted in. Took some work straightening it to the right form. Got it primed and painted. Looks pretty good.

4/24/10...Sanded, cleaned, repaired painted, and bolted back on the inner front fenders. Placed the outer fenders back on to see if the lights work and just to remind myself what the car looked like. The head lights worked, but I could not get the blinkers to work, or the horn, as they were wired. They worked ok when straight wired to he batery...so I will most likely need to rewire a lot of the car. On closer inspection, the heater core is leaking and the heater box is very rusted out. I may be able to get a used one with the duct work for $25. The drivers side outer rocker panel is in. I need to order it now. Working with the DMV to see about getting this car titled. It might take some doing.

5/11/10....Last week I got a heater box and core, heater duct work, trunk handle, and headlight chrome all for only $30. Today I finished hooking up the heater. We got heat! No leaks and works well.

7/25/10....been a while since I updated. Recently I have been working on putting in the inner and outer rocker panels. Got the pasenger side mostly done. However, the doors are now hard to close. I may have to make some adjustments. Everything was so rusted out it was like starting from scratch.

8/1/10.....Got both sides of the rocker panels welded in. The doors close well and look good. I am not the best welder...pretty crappy actually, but the welds are all holding. It has been more than a week and noone has bought my extra parts. I sure hope I do not have to scrap them all. I would hate to do that.

8/10/10....Added some new pictures today. Also...check out this link on facebook for more pics. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=4152&id=1324501285&l=8eb93156b0 I cut out a lot of the cancer and started to weld in the floor today as well.
