Hot summer here in Florida. Average heat index this month is well over 100. Only driving in the evening. Looking forward to the cooler months when again she will ride everyday. Still can always find something to do on her, never done. I am ready for my next project. Just enjoy the old Mopar's. Hope all are having a fine summer.
Enjoy the ride.......Jim
Safety Concern
Just wanted to share a safety concern. My wife (Sandy) and I had an incident with our 1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe. We were working on this vehicle and we suffered a very serious accident. I reached into the vehicle to turn the key to start the vehicle to check for fuel leaks. As I turned the key the vehicle lunged forward as it was left in first gear. My wife was struck and pinned against the work bench. She suffered a fractured hip, pelvis and back. She is recovering very well. I have started vehicles like this a thousand times without incident but it only takes one time for one mistake. Take the extra second and sit in the car when you start her. I hope our story helps someone to avoid an accident. There were very few safety devices back in the day. Now I can really appreciate the neutral safety switch.
Sandy is fully recovered and our car has been totally restored by the two of us.
A little about us.
We are both disabled Veterans and have retired from a career in Law Enforcement. Sandy retired early to raise our thirteen year old daughter. Jim retired as a Captain in 2003 after thirty years of public service. We have a small 5 acre farm in Southwest Florida and enjoy working with children in our 4-H program locally. Again we would like to thank everyone for their warm wishes and prayers.
Happy motoring to all of you Plymouth Lovers.
