I think they make dog dish hub caps for that year, but I am not sure. They have the plymouth ship on them usually, with some outside rings on it. Try Ebay

IMO and along the same lines of JDcranbrook, the stainless full dress ring and 10 inch hubcaps are top line look for that car in stock form...the choice other than stock are limited only to what you really like....I dressed my 49 Club coupe up a tad and put 88 5th Ave wheels and wire caps on it...the new owner when given the choice of which wheels, stock with ring and caps over the wires..he and his wife opted for the wires..
second pic is full trim rings and 10 inch caps the avatar to the left is the actual wheels going on my 51 Suburban

What I like for the wheels is to see the dog dish type hub cap in the center with a trim ring about the edge of the rim. The center cap to be an original type like used on 51 cars or a Baby Moon. To highlight this setup, the rim can be painted a complementary color to the car color. If you look at cars owned by marcosv117 and dpear on this site, you can get an idea of what this combination looks like. You may want to look at web site hubcapmike.com under vintage type hub caps for some other options. Will be interested to see what you do with the wheels.

I can't believe I gave these wheels away. This was taken when I first lowered the car. I think I had painted the wheels black after that, and the beauty rim and dog dish showed up nice afterward.
![]() But I went with the chrome wheels with baby moons after. ![]() If I remember right they came off a 60s era Chevy, but I could be wrong. |

On my 1950 I have the original Plymouth baby moon type hub caps and painted the wheels black. I think they go better with the style of the car. I wish I had the trim rings too. I tried to upload a photo but the file was too large for the site. -------------------- Mike

. . . the problem with the dog dish hubcaps is that your wheels need to have the clips in order to mount them. I found those somewhat hard to come by. I dressed up my '53 coupe with stock (15") hubcaps from the '56 Plymouth. They (almost) have that 'trim ring-baby moon' look to them(see foto) . . .
