Parts Sources/Services

One of the hardest things to do is locating parts for our cars. The collection of parts sources below may take some of the frustration out of parts finding. By no means is this a complete list. There are undoubtedly others and I will add them if you will tell me about them. The position on the page from top to bottom is no indication of "ranking". They wouldn't be on the page at all if I didn't think they were worthwhile. If you have any problems with any of them, let me know and I might pull the link. I have already pulled two vendors who didn't measure up.

The registered "members" of the site also have parts that they will sell or swap. Before searching other vendors, please visit the 'Parts for Sale/Trade' page and see if you can find what you need there.

VENDORS WITHOUT WEBSITES

Many of the parts vendors do not have websites yet. I have worked with several who have been good to work with. Among them are:

NEIL RIDDLE - "MR. PLYMOUTH" - (206) 285-6534 - Neil specializes in 1940 - 56 Mopars. His inventory is not as large as some of the vendors, but he has come up with a number of hard-to-find parts for me in the past. Besides that, he is a good guy to work with. (9/6/01) Neil's email is seaplym@hotmail.com

License Plates - Bryon Weesner recommends Phil Tedeschi - 6119 Highland Road - Highlands, OH 44143 - (440)446-0937 - email- pandkt@juno.com

Don Might recommends First Class Parts as a source. They sell Glove Boxes, Hood Insulations, Trunk Mats, Package Trays, Sound Deadener, Trunk Dividers etc. They are located at P.O.Box 261, Palmyra, PA - email: fcp@dejazzd.com

TIRES - Jim Benjaminson, of the Plymouth Owners Club has come up with a source for wide white-wall tires. The last prices I got from him were:

4 1/4" retail $120 each
2 11/16" retail $115
2 1/4" retail $110
1" ww retail $110

(plus shipping) Contact Jim at benji@utma.com

SPEED EQUIPMENT - Phillips Performance - Although I have not personally used these folks, I am told that they have some pretty good speed/power enhancing modifications for old Plymouths. Their email address is mopar@phillipsperformance.com ..... - Bill

DOOR SILL MATS - (part category 23-20-14) - Hal Acuff, of Rossville, Georgia makes them for 1942 thru 1948 2-door & 4-door models. He also makes them for 1949 thru 1952 2-door models (only). His telephone number is: (706) 866-4875

S M S - (Original Upholstery Materials Dale Hampton says that he was very satisfied with the close match of their material to his original seats when he reupholstered his car. Contact SMS at (503) 234-1175

VINTAGE POWER WAGONS Pete Anderson found these folks when he was rebuilding his engine. Although their catalog deals primarily with Dodge Power Wagons (1940 - 1971), a lot of parts will interchange. Check out their catalog & website.

Click here to visit VINTAGE POWER WAGONS

"FOR AUTO PARTS" - This website has more parts links than you can shake a stick at. I got into it, exploring all the linked websites, and had to tear myself away after an hour.

Mopar Parts Locating Guide
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST VALUABLE LINKS YOU WILL FIND ANYWHERE! If you purchase the guide shown on this page, it will save you dozens (if not hundreds) of hours. It lists hundreds of vendors categorized in such a manner to help you find the vendor you need. It will help you find sources not on the internet.

Hemmings Motor News -
Hemmings - This site is one of the most important places you can look. It has listings for car sales, services, parts and memorabelia in a well organized format. Even though you can get much of their info on-line, I still recommend that you subscribe to their monthly publication. You can browse a whole page at a time, highlight items of interest and tag pages. I find back issues to be of value, too.

Plymouth Owners Club
THIS SITE IS A MUST! This website may very well be your best friend and source for both parts and advice. They have an excellent bulletin board with lots of knowlegeable contributors. You will have to register with the site in order to post messages but that should be no big deal for you. I strongly recommend membership in the Plymouth Owners Club. The officers have proven to be very easy to deal with and the club magazine is top-notch.

Moore's Auto Salvage
Moore's Auto Salvage of Rapid City, South Dakota seems to have a large number of 1949 - 1952 (and other years) Plymouth parts cars. Although I have not dealt with them myself, their list is quite impressive. - Bill

Auto Restorer On-Line
Lots of restoration tips and info here. A site worth visiting.

Kanter Auto Products
Kanter has a rather extensive collections of mechanical parts. I have dealt with them before with good results but, after the last order (engine rebuild kit), I cannot recommend them without some reservation - have had problems with them. I will continue to use them however, if they are my last resort - and then I will expect poor service. If you would like more information about my dissatisfaction, send me an email - BKW

1946-1948 Plymouths & Dodges
1946 - 1948 Plymouth/Dodge Website for P15 & D24 body styles has now expanded to cover several more years. This site has many, many great technical tips for restoring Mopars and also has lots of good Mopar Parts links. I can't say enough good things about this site - GO THERE! - Bill

Auto Restoration Help Center - This is a quality website and has some dynamite links to suppliers.

Coker Tire - Probably the largest supplier of tires for antique/classic cars.

Collector Car Trader - This site has a few parts links (for all makes) and for-sale listings - helpful in evaluating what your car might be worth. Note that the prices shown are ASKING prices, not necessarily actual selling prices.

Car Scene - This link takes you to antique/classic for-sale ads. There is also a link for an appraisal service.

WALTER P. CHRYSLER RESTORERS CLUB (WPC Club) - Official Website - Good sources in their magazine

YnZ claims to reproduce exact replicas of wiring harnesses using lacquer coated braided wire the same colors as original harnesses. You can download their catalog if you wish. (I have not tried them yet as of 10/31/01 - BKW)

Steele Rubber
Steele Rubber is probably the largest supplier of rubber parts. They may be able to supply many of your needs. If you don't see what you want, e-mail them about what you need so they will know that there is a market for Plymouth rubber. Maybe if they get enough inquiries they will pay more attention to Mopar rubber.

Precision Rubber
This Canadian firm seems to do good work although they may be a bit pricey. Maybe if we bombard them with requests to do Plymouth work, they might gear up a bit for us.

Roberts Motor Parts
Parts for Chrysler products - I've used them several times with no problems - found them to be reasonable on returns. Over a period of time, these folks have become the first place I check when looking for parts. One caution - if you use their paper catalog, remember that the front half is for trucks and the last half is for cars. BKW

Mike's Mopar
Mike Hershenfeld seems to have just about everything you can imagine. It is hard to find things on his website and it is easier to send him an email asking for what you want. He's not a bad guy to deal with - I've been satisfied with his parts and service. - Bill

Neil Wojciechowski has quite a selection of Mopar sheet metal parts. Give him a try. For a real treat, take a look at Neil's 1950 Suburban in the 1950's photo section of this site.

Restoration Specialties & Supply
These folks seem to have most of the rubber, trim clips and bolts that we all need. Their website does not have an online catalog at this time (10/31/01) but it does have examples of their products. I recommend that you get their 176 page illustrated catalog. (I have not tried them yet as of 10/31/01 - BKW)

Atlas Obsolete Parts
These folks have an AWESOME MOPAR CATALOG but it does not list prices for each item - I suggest you call Mark for prices. I have not been able to find much on their website. It doesn't seem to be intuitive for me. Their address is 10621 Bloomfield St. #32, Los Alamitos, CA 90720 - (562) 594-5560 - [Fax (562) 936-1398]

Collectors Auto Supply
Although the format of this Mopar Parts website takes a little getting used to, it is one of the few that use original mopar part numbers - a very good idea. Their parts listing is quite extensive. (I have not tried them yet as of 10/31/01 - BKW)

Metro Weatherstripping and Rubber Parts
The folks at Metro seem to have a pretty good selection of weatherstripping and rubber parts. One thing they do in this website does is to give instructions and tips on installation of their parts - that's nice! (I have not tried them yet as of 10/31/01 - BKW)

Valley Vintage Auto Parts
This website requires that you know the part #'s of the parts you are looking for - or you can download their catalog online. If they do indeed have all of the parts listed in their catalog, Valley Vintage may be an excellent source. (I have not tried them yet as of 10/31/01 - BKW)

SHEET METAL REPLACEMENT PANELS - Lots of sheet metal panels, including lower halves of brale/clutch inspection panels and those hard to find pieces that run across under the trunk lid.

Vintage Glass
Bintage Auto Glass/Iowa Glass Depot in Cedar Rapids claims to have a large inventory of auto windshields & back glasses for early Mopars.
Fender Skirts & Visors - I get a lot of questions about fender skirts and visors. The sources listed to the right are the only ones I have been able to come up with. If you know of any others, please let me know. Bill Agape Auto - (812) 423-7332 - steel skirts

Lots of great links here!
This site is a veritable treasure of links to professional restorers plus lots of "how to" information - well worth a visit.

HOOD BADGES (PLASTIC INSERTS)
Old plastic insert in your hood badge all beat up, checked, faded, paint gone??? Try Emblem Magic for a reproduction that looks really nice. They're not cheap but a NOS one on ebay is usually a lot more expensive - if you can find one.

ANTIQUE MOPAR
Ed Spiegel seems to have a lot of Mopar parts. He's a member of the Plymouth Owners Club and should be pretty good to work with. There is no catalog on this website but you can contact him easily.

HUBCAPS, WHEEL COVERS & TRIM RINGS
Rick Feibusch recommends HUBCAP MIKE for hubcaps, wheel covers & trim rings. A visit to Mike's website will be worth your time.

HEATER DUCTS

Paul Taylor, of Arroyo Grande, CA is reproducing heater ducts for 49s & 50s. (51s & 52s?).

Contact Paul at pwjitaylor@msn.com

(6/27/07)

Michael Mancini says: "I own and operate a gauge restoration company and for the past 5 years, I have been developing a very special process to replicate the translucent blue-green finish found on the 50's chrysler dials. I am the only gauge restorer that has this color as authentic as original. Most guys just paint them green."
