Ross and Annie Horton, of Greenbank Washington located this 1949 Suburban in Indiana in 2004. It originally came from New Mexico in 1992 and the Indiana owner just stored it. After a test drive they bought it and drove it 2400 miles home to Whidbey Island WA (with no problems other than 3 qts. oil consumption). When purchased, the exterior had very little paint left, it had been sunburned off. The dash however was as you see it today. With the exception of the front seat cushions, the back of the front seat, rear seat, headliner and side panels are original. The seller included two rear and one front fender (new), an overdrive transmission and a "car load" of extra parts. Ross had to fold the rear seat down and the whole back end was full of parts. The outside visor, backup light kit , beauty rims both white and chrome, fuel pumps (2) rebuilt carb, the plastic emblem for the front of the hood (new), tail light lens, steering wheel and on and on.... Even the tires were like new.
In the winter of 2004, it was given new paint, front seat upholstery and cleaned up. Bumpers have been rechromed also. It is referred to as Annie's "grocery getter". Ross already had a 49 Dodge roadster and thought Annie should have her own car. She didn't know she wanted it but is very happy with it. We should all be so lucky.
How's this for a "daily driver"?
