Weidman's 49 Convertible

Deb & Scott Weidman are the proud owners of this 49 Convertible. As you follow the photos below, from the day they first hauled it home to the final finished car, you can see that a lot of hard work went into it.

Scott found a mechanic willing to rebuild the engine and says "When I got the engine entirely together, and I double checked a few things, I pumped the gas 3 times and it started right up. No kidding. I nearly fell off the bucket I was sitting on! (No seats at that time) I yelled for the wife and she came running into a smoke filled garage thinking the car had fallen on me. We celebrated for a few minutes and then I shut it down. Except for my wedding and the birth of my children, I can hardly remember another time I was so excited. We spent the next several minutes clearing out the garage and house of the smoke. Just some burn off of engine oil, exaust dust, etc, etc. Nothing serious."

"I was relieved that the valve timing was correct, it was an unknown to me because I was not familiar with the mechanic who rebuilt the engine."

"Anyway, it really runs smooth and cruises well at 55 even with 5 people. Of course, our drives are close to home and not for any extended length of time."

"Actually, there is no rust anywhere that I can find. According to the docs that came with the car, it had been media blasted, zeibarted and then painted. I haven't found any bondo, although I expect it exists some where. The body is very straight. I have inspected the internals of the door panels and the trunk, etc. It all looks pretty solid."

Indeed it does look pretty solid - a NICE RIDE!!

A LOT OF WORK WENT INTO THIS GREAT RESTORATION - AND IT SHOWS.
